weRead

WeRead is a social community for book-lovers and serves as generation platform for Lulu (and others publishers: Amazon). Lulu is a self-publishing company that owns weRead.com.  I worked with a team of some 15 intelligent engineers and product managers. It is a challenge to work for a product with such a varied user base but I guess a lot of credit goes to the team to make the task much simpler!

I worked on some new features, redesign and overhaul major existing features to increase user engagement, getting some patterns and consistency in the weRead.com and the weRead application. Here are some samples of what I did:

WeReader : It is the online e-book reader. We started with understanding the e-pubs, and the positioning of the feature so that it aligns itself to the social nature of weRead. It consisted of the landing page for ‘read online’ books to help users find and explore ebooks and the Reader page.

Visual design : we started with the header, and then individual pages. We kept in mind performance and load time of the pages.

Author Pages: Still under construction, this consists of the User view as well as the author view which is editable.

Tab View: Facebook has a special feature where a user can add an application to his tabs. It showcases the user’s interests to his friends.

iPhone app: To provide a ubiquitous experience we built an application for weRead on iPhone.

Ad server: Understanding the authors and publishers needs we built self serve advertising platform.
