Facebook has a special feature where a user can add an application to his tabs. It showcases the user’s interests to his friends.
Tab view in Facebook is about an addition of an application to the user’s profile. It helps the user to access the application quickly and also acts as a extension of a user’s identity.
Current Situation:
Currently the Tab view has a predefined content structure. User can only add the weRead application to his profile. His bookshelf’s recent books show up on the Tab.
Innovation
In accordance to the Facebook API the tab view needed to be changed to a different size. In order to change the tab view we conducted a small research with weRead users who used the existing tab view. After analysing the users concerns and needs we came up with a fully customisable design and a settings page to easily personalize the experience.
Research and Findings:
We conducted this survey with 30 users,some of who write to weRead regularly others who find a bug or give a suggestion. Users wanted highly customisable settings. They wanted to be able to choose the shelves to display as well as the order in which the shelves line up. Over and above that, they also wanted to choose the books to display.
Also, they wanted only certain selected reviews to show up. Also we added a status box for sharing any unique comments or suggestions by the user.
